APQC's cross-industry benchmark covered 2,300 organizations. The article reports a 6.4-calendar-day median, 4.8 days or less for the top quartile, and 10 or more for the bottom quartile.
Intuit commissioned an online survey in April 2025 of 700 US accounting professionals aged 18 or older. The report states that 46% use AI every day, against 28% of small businesses in the same research.
The same survey reports that responding firms run an average of 8 different digital tools, and that 89% say better integration is needed to support growth. The figure is a self-reported average, not a measured count.
Respondents report dedicating an average 62% of their workload to compliance work and say they would reduce it only slightly, to 58%. The narrow gap is the survey's own finding, not a projection.
Asked what stands in the way of expansion, 41% named integration challenges and 41% named time-consuming data entry. Subscription costs were the most-cited barrier at 44%.
