About

What this directory is, and what it refuses to be.

LedgerAtlas is an editorial directory of AI tools for accounting and bookkeeping firms. It exists to answer one question with evidence rather than marketing: what does this product actually do, and who does it fit?

Why it exists

Accounting firms are being sold AI tools faster than they can evaluate them. The usual sources are vendor pages that describe every product as transformative, and directories that rank listings by who paid for placement. Neither tells a firm owner whether a tool connects to the ledger they already run, or whether it fits a practice with fifteen clients.

This directory takes the opposite approach. Each record is a dated observation: the workflow the tool replaces, the ledger systems an official source confirms, the firm sizes the vendor positions for, the pricing model that is actually published, and a link to the page that supported each of those statements. Where a vendor does not publish something, the record says so instead of guessing.

How records are written

Records are compiled from sources the vendor or an official marketplace publishes: product pages, pricing pages, integration directories, and partner listings. Nothing is inferred from a demo video, a press release, or a third-party summary.

Every record carries a status. Checked means the site is live, a pricing or sales-contact path is published, ledger integrations are supported by an official page, and the replaced workflow is documented. Unverified means the product is real and has an official source, but at least one of those requirements is unsupported or unclear. Unverified records stay visible and labelled — they are not hidden, and they never rank above Checked records inside a filtered view.

The full protocol is published at Methodology.

What this directory does not do

  • It does not publish ratings, scores, or star reviews. There is no editorial ranking of products.
  • It does not repeat vendor productivity claims as fact. A claim is quoted, dated, and attributed, or it is left out.
  • It does not accept payment in exchange for a verification status. Sponsorship is labelled and cannot change whether a record is Checked.
  • It does not publish user testimonials or case studies it cannot verify.

Coverage today

The register currently holds 155 records across seven firm workflows. Coverage is uneven by design: workflows with no qualifying record are shown as an open queue rather than filled with entries that do not meet the bar.

Records are re-checked on a rolling basis. The date on each record is the date it was last observed, not the date the product launched.

Corrections

If a record is wrong, outdated, or misattributes something, write to [email protected] with the record URL and the evidence. Corrections that hold up against the sources are applied and the check date is updated.
